Governance that enables organizations to thrive
Governance is ultimately about creating the systems, relationships, and practices that enable organizations to make good decisions and remain accountable as they grow and evolve.
At Gracie Governance, I work with boards and leadership teams to strengthen governance, align strategy, and navigate periods of transition. Whether an organization is experiencing leadership change, growth, increasing complexity, or simply seeking to mature its governance practices, my focus is on helping leaders govern with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
My approach
My approach is grounded in the belief that governance is not just about structures, policies, and compliance. It is about how decisions are made, how accountability is maintained, and how boards and management work together effectively. I help organizations strengthen the governance systems and relationships that support effective oversight, strategic decision-making, and long-term organizational success.
I believe effective governance is built on three foundations:
Clarity
Clear roles, responsibilities, decision-making authority, and accountability create the conditions for effective governance.
Composition
Strong governance depends on the right people, perspectives, and relationships around the table.
Communication
Boards and leadership teams make better decisions when information is shared thoughtfully, discussions are constructive, and expectations are aligned.

My governance journey
Over the course of my career, I worked both with and within organizations across the public, non-profit, association, co-operative, and member-based sectors. I experienced governance from multiple perspectives: as an executive leader, board chair, committee chair, and governance advisor. This allows me to understand the realities facing both boards and management teams and to bridge the space between governance theory and practical application.
My goal is always the same, regardless of the engagement: to help organizations build governance practices that are practical, sustainable, and aligned with their mission and strategic direction.

Selected experience
I have supported organizations across Canada over the course of my career through governance reviews, board development, strategic planning, governance modernization, leadership transitions, and ongoing governance support.
My experience spans public, non-profit, association, co-operative, and member-based organizations, often working with boards and leadership teams as they navigate growth, increasing complexity, or organizational change.
As an Associate with the Institute on Governance, I collaborate with organizations throughout Canada to strengthen governance practices and build the conditions for effective oversight, accountability, and decision-making.
Working together
Embrace change
Governance is not a destination. It is a practice that evolves through every decision, discussion, and action – large or small.
Be ready to evolve
Organizations change. Leaders transition. Strategies evolve. New opportunities and risks emerge. Effective governance evolves alongside them.
Govern with confidence
My role is not to bring a one-size-fits-all solution, but to help organizations strengthen the governance practices, relationships, and systems that will enable them to govern more effectively and achieve their goals with confidence.
